8-25-2014 How To Sell Americans on Israel's Wars - Nathan Guttman The Jewish Daily Forward

Jennifer Laszlo Mizrahi and Meagan Buren, both experts in public opinion and formerly with The Israel Project, set out to find a real-time answer to this question  [what really works with an American audience?].  [Answer:  Use focus groups.  Don't talk about history, which makes people think the conflict has been going on forever and is insoluble.  Exception:  Israel's 2005 pullout from Gaza, which people need to be reminded of.  Don't put Israel into the context of the Middle East, which allows people to confuse Israel and Iraq.  Do emphasize Israel's wish for peace for  both sides.]
