This past week in Detroit, the General Assembly of the Presbyterian

Church (USA) voted (310-303) to divest from Caterpillar, Hewlett-Packard

and Motorola Solutions. Several mainstream Jewish organizations tried to

make this divestment decision a referendum on Presbyterian-Jewish

relations. It was nothing of the sort. Saying "yes" to divesting from

Caterpillar, H-P and Motorola Solutions was the right thing for the

Presbyterian Church to do because it acted in accordance with its own

investment guidelines and heeded the voice of its own conscience.
